Our farm is made up of 20 acres
of verdant pasture and some forest, with our
house at the top of the ridge. The view from
our back porch is of the Cherokee National
Forest and the
mountains of North Carolina. We
have lived here over 3 years and do not think
that we will ever tire of the varied and
spectacular sunrises.
Dean retired from Pacific Bell,
in Modesto, CA, after 32 years of service, in
Nov. of 2000. His retirement enabled me to
accept the transfer to my current position
with Cingular Wireless in the Johnson Cty call
center. Originally from Charleston, SC, I love
being back in The South.
We consider ourselves very
fortunate to be living in Chuckey, TN.
Originally, we had planned to retire in Gold
Beach, Oregon. However we have
decided
to stay in Chuckey, even after my retirement.
Chuckey is located 10 minutes from the lovely
town of Greeneville, TN, the home of Andrew
Johnson, 17th President of the U. S, and near
the "Tri-Cities" Area, which is made up of
Johnson City, Bristol and Kingsport –The
Gateway to The Great Smokey Mountains . If you
like to experience the Outdoors, in all 4
seasons, in a relatively mild climate, this is
the place to be. White water rafting,
canoeing, hiking the Appalachian Trail (with
& without llamas), water falls, wild
flowers, skiing (down hill, cross-country
& water) and numerous State Parks, are all
within a very short distance. Of course, no
commuter traffic jams is also a big plus.

The Tri-City Area has a
population of over one million people in the
greater metropolitan area. Not only are
symphony concerts, art exhibits and other
cultural mediums in plentiful supply, but you
will also find local arts and crafts, fairs
and other events that showcase the many varied
and talented, local artisans. The National
Story Telling Festival is held in nearby
Jonesborough, TN, the Story Telling Capital of
the World.
We are 5 hours from Atlanta,
Nashville, and Charleston, SC. Asheville, NC
is just one short hour "over the hill".
